For the third sketch from Shimelle’s latest class, I went bold with yellow. The supplies are still from Studio Calico’s “Odyssey” scrapbook kit (March 2015) scattered amongst things from my stash.
This layout is more structured than my last but busier due to the background pattern. I don’t have a distinct style of scrapbooking per se, so I often will have completely different esthetics in my layouts depending on the photos, supplies on hand, and my mood at the moment. This fits right in with my personality since I embrace change and variety in my life. If I don’t switch things up every now and then, I’ll simply get bored out of my mind!
Here’s the second layout I made for the Shimelle class I’m taking:
It’s a layout for my wedding album. Yup, it’s been two and a half years since my wedding, and I’m still working on the album! I clearly have a lot of catch-up to do!
I haven’t been buying a lot of new supplies lately, so all of the products I used are at least a year old. For 12×12 layouts, I mix in things from my own stash with old kits I have from Citrus Twist Kits and Studio Calico. It’s worth noting I just got through using my very last kit from CTK even though I haven’t been a subscriber since March 2015! All the scrapbook kits from Studio Calico I have are from various sales they’ve held throughout e last year or two. I’m currently working with their “Odyssey” kit which, coincidentally, is also from March 2015. I don’t think anything on this layout is actually from the kit, though. Not to worry, bits and pieces of things from the kit will pop up in the next few layouts I make.
It seems the only time I’m inspired to post anything on this blog is when I’m making pages for Shimelle classes! As it goes, I’ve been taking Shimelle’s newest class called “Design Decisions”. The class is 2/3 of the way done, and I’ve finally made my first layout for it! It’s not that I haven’t been scrapbooking–I’ve just been more on a divided page protector and mini album kick than 12×12 layouts. I’m going on maternity leave in a week and a half, and you better bet I’ll be back to scrapbooking on a near daily basis again (yes!).
Well, enough chit chat. Here’s my simple layout inspired by Shimelle’s sketch. I kept the basic design elements of the sketch for my page, but I’ve also deterred from the sketch quite a bit (as I’m known to do).
This page has fewer embellishments than my usual amount. I didn’t want to go overboard since the background paper is quite busy. I was debating whether or not to add some mist but decided against it in the end. This will just be one of the rare, super clean pages in my album.
