Card Share: You Are Simply Wonderful

I recently ventured into the land of cardmaking for a charity event raising funds to cover the medical expenses of a young woman with cancer.  The event is called “Scrapbook for Rindsay” and is sponsored by Studio Calico and Wishes of the Heart.  The host, Lindsay McMurray, specifically asked for donations of premade scrapbook layouts and/or cards.  I decided on the card route because I have VERY limited experience with cardmaking and love a good challenge 🙂

I don’t have a lot of cardmaking supplies…I couldn’t find a single stamp in my tiny stash with a sentiment worth putting on a card.  I don’t have any embossing powders.  There are no die-cutters, electronic or otherwise, in my home.  Sewing machine?  Nope!  But, I worked with what I had on hand and was able to churn out a few simple cards and envelopes using just paper, die cuts, stickers, and hand-stitching.

You Are Simply WonderfulThe “You Are Simply Wonderful” sentiment is from the Amy Tangerine “Yes, Please” Sticker Book.  I hand-stitched around the sticker with pink embroidery floss from one of Amy Tangerine’s embroidery kits.  I’ve had the WRMK Envelope Punch Board for a few months now and was able to finally use it for the first time on this project.  The punch board works great and is really fun to use.  It’s definitely on my favorite tools list now!  I believe the patterned paper used to make the envelope is from My Mind’s Eye, but I could be wrong…There’s also hand-stitching across the bottom of the front side of the envelope (not pictured).

I’m so glad I chose to challenge myself and test out cardmaking for a change.  I had a lot of fun thinking outside my normal “scrapbook” box for the last few days.  I have a few more cards to share over the course of the next couple of days, so stay tuned if you’re interested 🙂  Also, you can find more information on “Scrapbook for Rindsay” here.  The event is not until March 23rd, so there’s still plenty of time to donate some of your own handmade projects.
