Ever since I first received my iPhone 5 fifteen months ago, I’ve been changing the case design every couple of months using my scrapbook supplies. It’s super simple and takes only a few minutes. All you need is a clear or transparent phone cover. Mine is a Poetic soft case bought on Amazon. At that time, the only option they had was a black/clear option, but now they offer several different colors. I like this case because it’s a slim design, so I can easily have it in my pants pocket without too unsightly of a bulge. It’s a sturdy case that still looks new even after extensive use. The best part is….I can jazz it up whichever way my mood desires!
I’ve had my current case design since before Thanksgiving and figured it’s time for a little change. First, I took off the case with my original design which looked like this:
I used the fabulous Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic gold polka dot vellum paper I wish I had more of as the main pattern and dressed it up with various washi tapes and stickers. If this is your first time doing this, then you’ll need to trace around the phone case on a patterned paper you like.
Be sure to trim the paper slightly smaller (about 1/8″ to 1/4″) than your tracing so it can fit nicely inside the case. Also trace around the camera hole if you plan to take pictures with your phone. I didn’t want to bother with the intricate cutting, so I simply made my backing slightly shorter than the location of the camera lens.
Next, decorate however your heart desires! Just don’t make it bulky, or you won’t be able to fit the case over your phone. Since this wasn’t my first time, I just used my old backing design as a size template and came up with this:
Here’s how it looks inside the case:
This project took me less than 5 minutes to complete and cost practically nothing 🙂 All it took was a piece of patterned paper, a couple of die cuts, and some letter stickers.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Stay warm ❤
